Turntable/Record/Sound Installation

Sean Duffy: The Grove
Turntable/Record/Sound Installation
June 2 – September 9, 2007

Sean Duffy’s newest installation seeks to gather people
in a highly participatory experience. The Grove consists of
18 turntables, each linked to 20 speakers suspended from
the ceiling. A selection of albums by instrumental and vocal
performers at each turntable allows participants to interactively
change the sound environment. With close to 400 speakers,
the installation creates a canopy of sound from a collective-
community orchestration of ever-evolving musical compositions.

This exhibition is co-organized by Julie Joyce, Director, Luckman
Gallery at California State University, Los Angeles, and John Spiak,
Curator, Arizona State University Art Museum.

This project is made possible in part by Stinkweeds Music (Phoenix),
Modified Arts (Phoenix), an Artists’ Resource for Completion grant
from the Durfee Foundation (Los Angeles), and Friends of the
ASU Art Museum.

White stripes give away 7″ single with NME

In case you haven't already heard, the current issue of indie weeekly, NME has a cover mounted version of 'Rag and bone' by well known indie combo the White Stripes.
The song is off the new album to be released in a couple of weeks, 'Icky thump'. The record itself is a red vinyl one sided pressing aith a very pretty etching of Meg on the flipside.

It is surprisingly well packaged ina a black card gatefold sleeve with room for another record. This is intended to be the song 'Icky thump', to be released in the shops next week and pressed on single sided white vinyl.

All in all, a nice little item for that vinyl wall display I know you all have in your homes.

Because sound matters : Finally up

It should be stated that at the moment it is a very bare-bones site. Just really a taster of what is to come. There should be a proper launch on July 1st. So don't be too surprised at what's there at the moment. But for now you can have a taste.
