This is more of a mini review.
There is so much music in this set that you are quite spoiled for choice. Nearly all of it is excellent and theer is no obvious filler, although not all tracks are to the highest standard.
You have the wonderful bluegrass playing of the Union...

I just bought the new Clearaudio/Deutsche Grammophone vinyl LP of „Violetta“ with Netrebko. It is the only major classical release on vinyl since years coming from a mayor label like DG. So as a listener of all medias (vinyl, reel, CD, SACD) I was very curious whether it is...

This album is so horrendously recorded, I can't listen to it. Its incredibly noisy and compressed etc. I have never heard music so completely ruined as on this. Except perhaps the Killers.
It does however come in a beautiful package. Its prepared in the way 78rpm albums of the 20s and...

...but i woke up just in time.
The special duke releases the latest and the third in his series of 78rpm singles. All are taken from his album, Songs from the deep forest. If your player doesn't play 78, like me, don't worry! The B-side includes the A-side as well as...

This surely is one of very few 78rpm records to be released this year. Duke special seems to be a nostalgia freak. And that comes from a vinyl obsessive!. His cds are printed to look like old shellac records and his singles come out on the 78rpm format.
Philistine as I...

There's nothing more hateful in the music industry than a cheap gimmick tagged on to a mediocre artist by some money-grabbing suit behind a record company desk. You know the kind of thing I mean, trendy haircuts, polka dot dresses, matching suits, a 'the' name, or some hideously quirky packaging...

When i fist listened to this record I thought it was dense and uninspiring. Luckily that feeling didn't last long. Actually the songs are catchy. They are pop. And they are listenable. Scott Walker being one of Jarvis' great idols(Scott produced Pulp's 'We love life') I was worried that Jarvis...

This is on of the recent high quality record releases by warner Records. Mastered by Stan Ricker and pressed onto rather lovely 180grm vinyl biscuits it was always going to sound good.
Helpfully the copious liner notes(complete with full lyrics) let us know that this was recorded with amd opteron processors....

I've been listening to a lot of downloads by this guy recently and I never get tired of him. Finally I hold in my hands the double 180grm vinyl version of Youth, his most recent release. And as far as I know, his only album release on vinyl. There is...
