This is more of a mini review.

There is so much music in this set that you are quite spoiled for choice. Nearly all of it is excellent and theer is no obvious filler, although not all tracks are to the highest standard.

You have the wonderful bluegrass playing of the Union station. You have the splendid voice of Alison Krauss who is as comfortable singing ballads as she is at getting down and a little bit dirty in a more coutry and bluesgrass style. The sounds is brilliantly captured on this DSD recording, although I still think an analog rig would have captured a warmer sound.

The versions of the songs are, again very well played and recorded. It is sometimes hard to believe that this is a live setting.

The tour is from 2002 and includes most of teh New Favourite album. This was available for a while on Diverse Records but no longer. This set more than makes up for its absence, with an abundance of extra tunes to boot.

It includes the 'O' Brother' classics like 'Down in the river to pray' with a lovely harmony by the band. 'I am a man of constant sorrw. It includes other great songs from 'new favourite' such as the very veautiful 'Let me touch you for a while' and 'The lucky one'. There are brilliant Bluesgrass instrumentals like 'We hide and seek'. This reminds me of Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

There is even a version of Ronan Keating's(he of Boyzone) 'When you say nothing at all', which somehow I can't warm to here.

The guitar plucking and playing is a joy to listen to in its own right.

The packaging disappoints me a bit. It is very protective but not lavish. The records come int the excellent Mobile Fidelity inner anti static sleeves. These are housed with a booklet inside a cardboard box. The booklet however is not particularly luxurious or interesting. However for records of this quality the $60 asking price is not too steep.

If you don't have any other Alison Krauss, there is every reason to get this record.
