Metallica Kill 'Em All On Limited Edition 45RPM 180g 2 x Vinyl LP Set

This series will allow Metallica fans the option to hear these legendary recordings as never before... Louder, Faster, Heavier!!!

Half Speed Mastered from the original analog tapes at Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs for the ultimate listening experience... Audiophile Quality

Metallica's debut album--originally released in 1983--is a masterpiece of thrash metal, and as good a marker as any for the debut of the genre. Fusing the rapid-fire attack of bands like Motorhead with a guitar style reminiscent of such British heavy metal bands as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Metallica essentially created a new kind of metal. Several of the songs from this 1983 album have since become classics, including "Seek & Destroy", "The Four Horsemen", and "Jump in the Fire". Essential for any heavy metal fan.

Metallica Ride The Lightning (Limited Edition 45RPM 180g 2 x Vinyl LP Set) This series will allow Metallica fans the option to hear these legendary recordings as never before... Louder, Faster, Heavier!!! Half Speed Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes at Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs for the Ultimate Listening Experience... Audiophile Quality! Don't let that classical-guitar-ish opening to "Fight Fire with Fire" fool you, Ride the Lightning packs a heavy-metal wallop. This early Metallica album is indubitably one of their best. Thematically, it explores death and dying from myriad points of view; nuclear war on "Fight Fire with Fire", electric-chair execution on "Ride the Lightning" and drowning on "Trapped Under Ice." Interestingly enough, the best track on this album is probably "Fade to Black," a slower, more introspective song about suicide. There's also "Creeping Death," which remains a concert favorite. An excellent mix of rapid-fire guitar riffs, rip-roaring solos and singer James Hetfield's trademark growl, this is thrash metal at its finest. Very highly recommended.

  Classic Records

While Hendrix remains most famous for his hard rock and psychedelic innovations, more than a third of his recordings were blues-oriented. This LP contains 11 blues originals and covers, eight of which were previously unreleased. Recorded between 1966 and 1970, they feature the master guitarist stretching the boundaries of electric blues in both live and studio settings. Besides several Hendrix blues-based originals, it includes covers of Albert King and Muddy Waters classics, as well as a 1967 acoustic version of his composition "Hear My Train A-Comin'." The Classic issue of this title will mark its first time on vinyl. Of course, the two LP set, cut on Bernie Grundman's all tube analog cutting system. The first 2500 copies will be numbered and pressed on "Blue" 180g. After the first 2500, all others will be on black Quiex SV-P 200g. Get one while they are Blue and you'll be Cool!

Born to Run (180 Gram)

   Classic Records

On this the 30th Anniversary of one of the most important albums of the 70's and arguably of rock generally, Classic brings back, for the first time on our Quiex Super Vinyl Profile, "Born To Run". Bruce is joined by Clarence Clemons on Sax, Max Weinberg on drums, Roy Bittan on piano and Garry Tallent on bass playing such memorable tunes as Thunder Road, Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, and of course Born to Run among others. Originally recorded at the Record Plant in New York and engineered and mixed by Jimmy Iovine (now President of Geffen / A&M records). Produced by Bruce, Jon Landau and Mike Appel, this is the same version Classic previously has issued - now for the first time on our proprietary 200g Quiex Super Vinyl Profile.

"Well I guess it would be nice, if I could touch your body...." Given George Michael's restroom hi-jinks in early 1998, those words from "Faith" sound pretty funny, but they sounded fresh and exciting blasting out of car radios all over America in 1987. George Michael's stunning solo debut (after four years in the lightweight British duo Wham!) sold seven million copies and yielded six Top 10 hits. Some of those were among the decade's best pop, including the hiccuping title track, the heartfelt ballad "Father Figure" and the wicked R&B groove of "I Want Your Sex." Unlike so much 1980s treacle, this album hold ups surprisingly well--even if George Michael hasn't always done so himself, but we won't talk about that.

After the explosion created by Led Zeppelin I and II the previous year, this set had rock fans eagerly awaiting its release in the Fall of 1970. Producing the elaborate die-cut/pinwheel album cover artwork insisted on by the band delayed getting this album to the its anxious public. Fortunately, Led Zeppelin III lived up to expectations and was the next step on the path of success for the biggest rock band of the 1970s. The album was recorded by engineer Andy Johns in both Memphis (Argent Studios) and London. Led Zeppelin was and is the definitive heavy metal band. They incorporated mythology and mysticism into a bigger than life sound that defied critics and was fueled by a strong connection with an audience built through their album oriented blues-rock and explosive concerts. In doing so they established the dominant format for heavy metal as well as the genre’s actual sound. Led Zeppelin has never been more popular, pervasive or omnipresent and they’ve managed to be a band that no generation can ever ignore. This re-issue, from Classic Records, is an all-analogue re-master pressed on a thick slab of premium 200g vinyl. The sound is absolutely incredible. You've never heard Led Zeppelin III with this much clarity, detail and punch!

It's no accident that The Eagles Greatest Hits might one day pass Michael Jackson's Thriller as the best-selling album of all time-- the Eagles made great singles. By contrast, their albums could be spotty and strained by self-conscious artistry. Hotel California was arguably the band's best single album--it was certainly the Eagles' biggest original disc-- and it also underscored the band's need to make a big statement. The title tune reflected the album's theme of paradise lost in California, painting this picture with a musical arrangement that punctuated strumming guitars with dramatic drums, and perhaps the band's most famous lyric: 'You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.' 'New Kid in Town' was an equally fine albeit much more traditional Eagles ballad. 'Life in the Fast Lane' aspired to hard rock but largely gunned its engine without taking off. The rest is okay, but nothing more than secondary Eagles songs that happened to be nestled into the album that came to define the `70s supergroup.

Overwrought and undeniable, Meat Loaf's Bat out of Hell remains both one of rock's biggest--and least likely--hit albums. The byproduct of a partnership between beefy singer Marvin Lee "Meat Loaf" Aday and fellow journeyman/National Lampoon Road Show cast member Jim Steinman, Bat out of Hell met 1977's vaunted Year of Punk with a blast of neo-operatic, Wagnerian-scaled bombast (based on Peter Pan, no less) that was as reactionary as anything the spiked set and their supporters could possibly imagine--13 million units worth, and counting. Bat seems to have thrived on the same formula that's made Andrew Lloyd Webber a multimillionaire knight: if you do kitsch, do it big. And what could be more kitschy and emblematic of the '70s than the ubiquitous "classic rock" (an overused adjective that applies all too well here) of "Two out of Three Ain't Bad" or the breathless nookie-quest, "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," replete with Phil Rizzuto calling the play-by-play? This digitally remastered edition also includes '78-vintage bonus live cuts of "Bolero" (the live show's equally over-the-top opener) and "Bat out of Hell" that showcase the production's energetic, perfectionist bent. The sonic upgrading here also underscores the oft-overlooked efforts of producer Todd Rundgren.

Miles Davis's impact on jazz is almost incalculable. From his early days as a sideman for Charlie Parker, through his groundbreaking Birth of the Cool sessions, to his stunning small groups of the '50s and '60s, through to his electric renaissance, the trumpeter, bandleader, and composer has left a deep mark on all who came after. He is one of jazz's true giants. Sketches of Spain, though one of Davis's most commercially successful sessions, is also one of his most controversial. Re-teaming with arranger and composer Gil Evans, who played such a pivotal role in Davis's 1949 Birth of the Cool recordings, Davis recorded a series of large group albums beginning in the late '50s, including Porgy and Bess, Miles Ahead, and Quiet Nights. Sketches of Spain, with its emphasis on flamenco, rich orchestrations, and relaxed tempos, is certainly one of Davis's most mellow recordings (he even works out on fluegelhorn), and proved to have broad appeal. To some critics, however, the project was 'elevated elevator music.' An expanded version of the album, featuring alternative tracks and unreleased material, was issued in 1997 by Columbia Legacy.

2 LP set. Better known as the "White Album," this was meant to be the record that brought them back to earth after three years of studio experimentation. Instead, it took them all over the place, continuing to burst the envelope of pop music. Lennon and McCartney were still at the height of their powers, with Lennon in particular growing into one of rock's towering figures. But even McCartney could still rock, and the amazement on "Helter Skelter" was that he had vocal cords at the end. From Beach Boys knock-offs to reggae and to the unknown ("Revolution #9"), this has it all. Some records have legend written all over them; this is one.

Credit Eddie Vedder for being one modern songwriter who's able to write story songs with force and conviction. His use of imagery, metaphor, and language both vernacular and elevated provides the ideological balance that the furious, exotically tinged music (mostly courtesy of rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament) needs. Such was Nirvana's weakness -- repetitive guitar riffery coupled with mostly meaningless lyrics. Pearl Jam, however, pays as much attention to head as to heart, and the sincerity of the songwriting and performances stands up to repeated listens much better than Nirvana's self-limiting irony.

On paper, River sounds like a match made in several versions of heaven. Legendary pianist Herbie Hancock re-imagines Joni Mitchell with his hand-picked, star-studded band--including saxophonist Wayne Shorter--in tow. Luminary guests lend vocals to a song apiece: Norah Jones ("Court and Spark"), Tina Turner ("Edith and the Kingpin"), Corinne Bailey Rae ("River"), Luciana Souza ("Amelia"), Leonard Cohen (with an unsettlingly sanguine version of "The Jungle Line"), even Joni Mitchell herself ("Tea Leaf Prophecy"). The mix includes a continuum from intrepid classics to dusty, fans-only fare, but a distinct reverence for Joni Mitchell the Poet threads them together, and, in the end, this album works best as a sleepy window into one fan's giddy and particular love affair with his source material. Fans of Hancock win out.

The Bends is still one of Radiohead's best works, and for obvious reasons. Epic in scope without being self-indulgent, The Bends takes the distorted guitars of grunge and adds a sense of melodrama and good old rock-n-roll majesty that, at that time, had been missing from popular music for almost two decades. In blending the two together, along with adding their own distinctly British personality, Radiohead makes The Bends a landmark recording that still feels fresh today years after its initial release.

Juno Soundtrack
Music from the Motion Picture

Original soundtrack to the 2008 coming-of-age comedy directed by Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking). The narrative centers on whip-smart Juno (Ellen Page, in a breakthrough role), a teenage girl faced with an unplanned pregnancy from an afternoon with the charmingly unassuming Bleeker. Juno finds her unborn baby the perfect set of parents in Mark and Vanessa Loring (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), an affluent suburban couple who are eager to adopt. Along with the total support of her parents, Juno conquers her problems head-on, displaying a youthful exuberance that is both smart and unexpected. Features tracks from Kimya Dawson, The Kinks, Buddy Holly, Sonic Youth, Belle & Sebastian, Mott The Hoople, Cat Power and others. Rhino.

The D4+ Record Care System is the result of intensive scientific research on safe record cleaning. The D4+ System is a cleaning system unlike other products, which reduce record dynamics and fidelity. The more active, yet safe, D4+ fluid is actually able to lift and suspend contaminants in solution on the record surface so the D4 pad can easily and efficiently remove debris. Containing less residue than tap water, D4+ fluid will clean without depositing new residues on the record surface; it will not encourage any biological growth as do "constantly damp" cleaning methods.
