When you first hear this record you really will be impressed. The sound is beautifully presented. The vocals and instruments are crystal clear. Every guitar pluck, every spoken word rings out in its own vast space.
B&W are a speaker company and seem to have taken it upon themselves to release a record to the very highest standards achievable today. There are not many details about its recording, just the fact that it was cut on a DMM lathe. not such a drawback as it was in the early days. Certainly this record is a good advertisment for DMM.
We have two songs from each of the 5 contributors here. Allan Taylor sounds very like Mark Knopfler to me. Sara K is a lady who sings the blues. The spirit of Gambo give us what sound like two English medeaval classical pieces. One with vocals despite being labelled as an instrumental. These woudl be my favourite pieces here. Mike Silver sings some more fold with perhaps a country tinge. Steve strauss gives us some smokey club jazz. The term 'cat' springs to mind. He does sing about Dixie Jazz.
All in all then, its a very mellow experience. You can imagine a room full of middle aged men sitting around in a demo room listening to this record, but not really listening to it at home. It is all very pleasant but not stand out.
The record sounds like all the musicians playing in your living room. the question is do you want them there?
Few details but includes lyric sheet. Dull cover but includes good protective inner sleeve.
