Mulder: Are you familiar with the 10 commandments Scully?
Scully: You want me to recite them?
Mulder: Just number four, the one about obeying the Sabbath -
the part where God made heaven and earth but didn't
bother to tell anybody about his side projects.

THIS WEEK'S NEW SOUL / DISCO / ITALO / nu-JAZZ ARRIVALS & RESTOCKS:
=======================================================================

Black Joy 'Moustache' (Prins Thomas Mixes) 12" [NRK] e7.60

Superb remixes here from Prins Thomas of one of our favourite nuDisco-House tracks. Parisian outfit Blackjoy are behind Moustache’, a track that became a massive hit with househeads and nu-disco fanatics alike. For 2006, Prins Thomas
delivers two finger snappin’, low slung, disco groovers, staying faithful to the original with its building clavinet & Wurlitzer
chords and infectious bassline and adds a heavy dose of P funk, taking the cosmic levels to +11. The ‘Diskodub’ is
particularly heavy on the delays, teasing and building the track before the beat finally kicks in at 5 mins. This track
is a perfect metting of House & Disco with a wicked bassline. You'll love it!

Dj Yoda 'Wheels / Tip Toe' 12" (Antidote) e7.60

This is the first single from Yoda's new 'Amazing Adventures of' LP and well... it's a banger! Based heavily on a
tremendous lost Level 42 sample and more or less lifted directly from 'Livin it up', this is proper old school party
hip hop and catchy as hell. The track on the flip is 'Tip Toe' is a bizzare blend of old-english hippy-folk and scratching
and recently used in the Nike TV ad. Remix duty here provided by DJ A Skillz. A winner.

Gilles Peterson / Patrick Forge 'Sunday Afternoon @ Dingwalls 2LP (Ether) e21.60

Album marking the 20th anniversary of the legendary Sunday afternoon cult club session Talkin’ Loud at Dingwalls,
featuring classic anthems alongside vinyl rarities. Now available on vinyl.
Airto - Encounter (Encontro no Bar)
Dom Um Romao - Shake (Ginga Gingou)
Bobby Montez - Kon-Tiki
Byron Morris - Kitty Bey
Michel Legrand - Southern Routes Dave Valentin - Clove & Cinnamon
Mark Murphy - Empty Faces
Stone Alliance - Sweetie Pie
Norman Connors - Captain Connors
Corky McClerkin - Searchin For The Soul

Don Blackman 'Don Blackman' LP (Arista) e15.00

Super funk soul & boogie LP from 1982. Every track here is a winner even the more chilled out numbers. 'Heart
Desire' & 'Holding You, Loving You' are absolute classics and sound like they must've been a big influence on Pharrell. Winner!

V/A - Rare Funk #11 LP (Cobalt) e21.60

From the same label that brought you that Psychedelic Funk comp we had in stock a few weeks back... the one
with no tracklistings. Heres another great one, this time of more obscure Soul, Funk Reggae& Disco gems.
Some of the cover versions here are out of sight.
If you like the kind of set David Holmes, DJ Format or Andy Votel play then youll dig this gear...far out!
ust where do they find this stuff?!

Blue Jays - What do you want
Cimmerons - Street Walk
Sound Studio - Gimme Some
Dave & Ansel Collins - Doing Our Thing
Apostels - Soulful
Boris Gardiner - Ghetto Funk
In Crowd - Mango Walk
Tornados - Do Your Thing

Wild Magnolias - Ho No Se
Organizationb - Smokey Feeling
Lever Bros - Blackmans Cry
Ray Munnings - Funky Nassau
Naturals - Funky Rasta
Jon Lucien - Ghetto Song

Liquid Liquid 'Scraper / Cavern - Cut Chemist & Psychnauts remixes' 12" (MoWax) e11.40

One time this was a holy grail for punfunk/no-wave & hip-hop collectors alike. Originally issued a s a limited
edition 12" remix ep on MoWax way back in '97 and reissued again in all its glory. Here you get 2 super Liquid
Liquid percussive breakbeat tracks remixed by Cut Chemist and The Psychnauts. Both tracks are wicked and
beef up the originaly no end.

Gwen Guthrie 'Peanut Butter / Younger Than Me 12" (Island) e11.40

'Peanut Butter' is classic Paradise Garage / Larry Levan disco and sounds as good now as it did then. Its funky
as hell and makes a pleasant change from the over played 'Nuthin but the rent'. The track on the flip 'Younger
than me' is class too. Produced by Sly & Robbie.

Putsch ’79 – Doin’ It Remixes (Box Jams) e11.40

Repressed and back in stock! Part 2 of the Box Jams Remix series. Daniel Wang comes with a sweeet New-York
disco version with warm sounds and an even warmer groove... Very nice! Major Swellings (aka Prins Thomas)
comes with a nice long building dubby remix with a great additional bassline and loads of percussion added.
Last but not least a new bonus edit by the Finnish wonder boys themselves. Slightly different from the original
with a more loose feel. Super conremporay disco with a great groove.

Will Powers 'Adventures in Success' 12" (Island) e11.40* [back by beats demand!]

Reissue of this 80’s electro-pop classic, co written by Sting and featured on the Glimmers Serie Noire Eskimo
mix and Joey Negro's recent compilation 'The Trip' from last year. A real odd tune but one that really has finally
come of age. Sounds just like Metro Area or that current cosmic dubbed out disco sound. The vocal side has some
rather wacky lyrics about empowerment but hey if you dont like em then just flip over to the dubside for the
instrumental. Has a whole plethora of guests involved...Nile Rodgers, Robert Palmer and even Sting.
Great disco groove and infectiously likeable,.

=================================================================

THIS WEEK'S NEW HOUSE, ELECTRO & PUNK-FUNK ARRIVALS & RESTOCKS
==================================================================

New Young Pony Club 'Ice Cream' 7" (Island) e5.00

One of our favourite new Punk-Funk bands and one of their best singles so far. Originally released on the mighty
fine Tirk! records last year. We had limited copies of this in stock in then that sold out rapid. Now the Ponies are
newly signed to Island records and this single has got a re-release....and non-too soon neither. Sounds like a
mash of Tom Tom Club, Le Tigre, A Certain Ratio, DFA, ESG & a girlie version of Gang Of Four. If you dig your
post punk / no-wave funk sounds then don't miss this humdinger of a 7". Scheduled to play here at the Ambassador
next month too. Go Ponies!

Black Joy 'Moustache' (Prins Thomas Mixes) 12" [NRK] e7.60 ***due Friday tomorrow

Parisian outfit Blackjoy are behind ‘Moustache’, a track that became an instant underground hit with househeads
and nu-disco fanatics alike. For 2006, Prins Thomas delivers two finger snappin’, low slung, disco groovers, staying
faithful to the original with its building clavinet & Wurlitzer chords and infectious bassline and adds a heavy dose of
P funk, taking the cosmic levels to +11. The ‘Diskodub’ is particularly heavy on the delays, teasing and building the
track before the beat finally kicks in at 5 mins.
We still spin the original of this most weeks and these remixes take it to the next level

Martin Solveig 'In the House' 2x12" (Defected) e11.40 each

51 Days ‘Feel So High’
Copyright feat. Tasita D’Mour ‘We Can Rise’
Incredible Bongo Band ‘Apache’
Salif Keita ‘Madan’ (MS Exotic Disco Mix)
Martin Solveig ‘Someday’
Jackson Sisters ‘I Believe In Miracles’

Mesak – Pak Bang 12" (Klakson) e11.40

Mesak's third twelve inch on Dexter & Steffi’s Klakson Records. Tatu Metsätähti (aka Mesak, one half of Mr Velcro
Fastener) brings probably his best release to date…at least it is his most danceable release ever. Our favourite is
the jacking "Lets Get Sum Bang" which rocks every club for sure! The other tracks are more electrofied techno-ish
tracks which remind us of some classic Carl Craig work including the outstanding "Pak Track". Like all Klakson releases
this is another hot one.

ESG 'ESG' LP (99 Records) e11.40

A repress of the original ESG mini-album on New York's finest Punk-Funk label. This is the essence of pure no-wave
and the sound that had such an influence on todays bass & cowbell sound. If you like the DFA, Franz Ferd, Certain
Ratio, Gang of Four, New Young Pony Club then you need this. 12" price too!
Youre No Good
Moody
Ufo
Earn It
Esg
Hey!

The Rapture 'House Of Jelous Lovers' 12" (DFA) e11.40

Stop press!! Limited warehouse find of the track that started it all for the Rapture nearly 4 years ago on DFA records.
This ones a classic and still sounds freash today. Now long deleted and ridiculously hard to get hold of even on ebay.
We have some VERY LIMITED copies of thsi gem back in stock. Get em while theyre hot... and get one for your mate too!

Dondolo - Tetanus Crisis [Hot Chip & Mock & Toof Remixes] (Tiny Sticks) e11.40

Hot Chip, serve up one hell of a journey, and rising stars Mock & Toof (currently getting props for their Madonna re-edit
'Lycra Virgin') are also all over Dondolo, who's first Tiny Sticks release, the mighty 'Dragon',
received support & plays from the likes of DFA, Lindstrom, Trevor Jackson, Rob Da Bank, Prins Thomas, Optimo, Headman,
Erol Alkan etc.A big one.

Morpheus & Joakim – Give Us Something (Tigersushi) e11.40

This EP is an exclusive collaboration between Joakim and former Minimal Compact singer Samy Birnbach, an
offshoot of DJ Morpheus’s compilation “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” in a punk-funk vein with raw analogue
synths and fierce guitars (featuring Panico’s guitarist, Memo Dumay). On the flip side, Rub N Tug put their hands
on Minimal Compacts’s "Nil Nil". Gothic Disco.

Twitch (Optimo): Really like the Joakim and Morpheus too. The original mix is doing it for me at the moment.

Radiohead / The Rapture 'Punchup at the underground' Freshpress) e11.40

Two super punk-funk edits here. Firstly its Radiohead's "Punch Up at a Wedding" that adds a US boompty / tech-house
beat and a fresher more upbeat take on the track. On the flip, The Rapture's "Sister Saviour" is given a bouncier remix t
hat should give it a new lease of life now that the band are back with a new LP.

Peter, Bjorn & John 'Young Folks' 12" (Coop) e11.40** [restock - back by beats demand!]

A restock of this PunkFunk gem. Fierce catchy.... and on this 12" you get the remixes. Three of them in fact, including
the really brilliant 'Punks Jump Up' mix that just spun me out the first time I heard it. Very funky in a punky kinda way.
Great bassline!

==================================================
LAST WEEK'S MOVER'S & SHAKER'S YOU MAY HAVE MISSED
==================================================

Tangoterje 'Diamonds Dub' 12" (Supreme) e11.40

A re-edit of the Paul Simon classic "Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes" and Todd Terje does a sterling job (it was hard
to go wrong) with a new intro & extended breaks - on the flip, an instrumetal extended dub of Curtis Mayfield "Give Me
Your Love" and the whispered vocalled gentle lilt of Astrud Gilberto's "Black Magic".

Donna Summer 'I feel Dub' 12" (White) e11.40

Glenn Underground's late 90s bootleg mix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" combining it with Giorgio Moroder's
"The Chase" and beefing up the drum sound no end. Also has 2 other "I Feel Love " remixes too. Now your talking!

Ginny / Cline Stevens & Brainchild – Can’t Be Serious / Mystery man (Flexx) e11.40

Two super-rare and in demand cosmic slow-jams. Ginny's "Can't Be Serious" has been the talk of the town ever
since it was featured on DJ Harvey’s cult Sarcastic Disco mix and Marni's excellent Tutu mix. This unique 1983
balearic-cosmic-disco styled burner with very intense vocals has conquered the hearts of many. Now finally available
again, re-mastered from the original tapes. Renowned jazz-funk fusionist Clive Stevens has a career spanning over
30 years and has previously collaborated with the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Manfred Mann, Billy Cobham and others.
His 1983
"Mystery Man" track is a beautiful, exotic cosmic disco jam previously released on italo disco label "Many Records"
and the German "Frog records".

VARIOUS ARTISTS - Balearica: The Original Sound Of The White Island 2LP (White) e21.60

Compilation of rare and in-demand original Balearic gems.
Featuring Jasper Van't Hof's 1985 piano masterpiece "Hoomba Hoomba", heavily sampled by Voices Of Africa for the
1990 rework of the same name, as well as Wally Badarou's "Mambo" which was also heavily sampled by Massive Attack
for their hit "Daydreaming". Also featured are the full 12' version of Tulio De Piscopo's "Primavera (Stop Bajon)"
and the 10 minute Tom Moulton mix of the Kongas "Anakina", both massive records in the early Ibiza parties. Also
the awesome 'Rotation' by Herb Alpert and the original Extended 12" Version of Max Berlin's Elle Et Moi. All in all
a superb compilation of rare & in demand tunes. Great comp!

Lindstrom & Prins Thomas 'Boney M Down' 12" (Eskimo) e11.40

"Boney M Down" was one of many highlights from Lindstrom & Prins Thomas' eponymous 2005 album on Eskimo.
This 12" doesn't short-change owners of the original triple LP, as it features a wholly different mix of "Boney M Down"
to the album, one so different and multi-layered that it bears few resemblances to its forebear, with more loads more
guitar, whiny keys and a 'liver' rhythm track. "Tempo Tempo" must be an LP outtake, as it shares the Spanish guitar,
Krautrock keys and lackadaisical grooves of the long player. Apparently recorded live at the Goa Club in Rome (
but sonically as good a recording as a studio mix), the version of "Sykkelsong" is a looser, dubbier variant to the LP
fave....and for my 2p's worth is the best cut on this EP. A real slow burner of a track that burns brightest.

Alan Parsons Project - I Robot / Human Beinz 'Nobody But Me' 12" (Dirty) e11.40

Great re-edits here of The Alan Parsons Project's cosmic-disco groover 'I-Robot' and The Human Beinz Northern Soul
stomper 'Nobody but me'. The Alan Parsons track sounds like Metro Area or Chicken Lips in their more dubbed out
cosmic days and frequently gets spins on Tim Sweeneys 'Beats in Space show'. Weve been on the hunt for this one f
or a while,Great track!
While the Human Beinz track is pure Nuggets Garage and featrured in the Kill Bill movie. Superb edits done here by
the same folks that did that wonderful edit of Can's 'Mother Sky' not so long ago.

The Glimmers – Time For Action (Diskimo) e11.40

Brand new release from The Glimmers on Eskimo’s Diskimo offshoot and a collaboration with Anu from Freeform Five .
Solid, disco influenced tracks, ready to fly. Paded Cell remix on the flip side giving the original more of an electronic feel. -
its a great dirty disco-flavoured house track and sounds like The Glimmers doing what they do best.

========================================================
THIS WEEK'S PRESALES / FORTHCOMING RELEASES - preorder now!
========================================================

Various Artists - 2LP Balearica 2 e21.60

Balearica 2 brings you another brilliant 2 x 12” compilation of rare & in demand old school Balearic gems. Featuring
Johnny Dynell’s classic ‘Jam Hot’ which was heavily sampled by Norman Cook’s Beats International. Also featured is
the full nine minute versions of K.I.D.’s awesome ‘Hupendi Musiki Wangu’ and Lola’s - ‘Wax The Van’, both massive
records at the early Ibiza parties. Also included are Prism’s mega rare ‘The White Shadow’ a fantastic Balearic Disco
remake of ‘Ain’t No Stoppin Us Now’ as well as awesome re-edits of Earth, Wind & Fire’s – ‘Drum Song’ and Rah Band’s
 – ‘Electric Fling’. But.....the iceing on the cake has to be the full 12" version of Stretch's 'Why Did You Do it' (check the drum
break!) and Carly Simons 'Why'. Two tracks weve been searching years for.

Zero dB 'Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines' 4LP (Ninja) e31.00

Since they started properly working together some 6 years ago, Chris Vogado and Neil Combstock aka Zero dB
have been concocting a provocative, innovative and addictive brew of hard jazz, electro, latin, hip hop and house,
laced throughout with their now signature dirty, heavy basslines. •After releasing their early records on Vogado’s
own Fluid Ounce label, Zero dB are now signed to Ninja Tune and ready to step it up, with their debut album, ‘Bongos,
Bleeps & Basslines’. Their main starting point is usually jazz, but they dip into a multitude of different influences and
work with talented musicians and vocalists to create a track. In contrast to the general climate of somewhat old, tired,
formulaic and unmemorable dance music, Zero dB’s meticulous production forces their audiences to discover previously
undeveloped musical places. The result is hard-edged and exhilarating - as brutal as it is sophisticated, ‘Bongos, Bleeps & Basslines’ is a stand-out
work of UK dance music.

TY 'Closer' 2LP (Big Dada) e21.60

On the back of Zane Lowe support, a huge autumn tour, 1xtra playlist and excellent press comes the third album from
Mercury Music Prize nominee Ty. Ty’s Mercury nominated album ‘Upwards’ sold over 15,000 copies in the UK alone. Closer’ features guest spots from hip hop luminaries such as Speech, Maceo and Bahamadia.

VA Ame - Mixing 3LP (Sonar Kollektiv) e19.00

Not just a bridge between the old and the new, the club and home stereo ‘Âme... Mixing’ serves as a connection between
the various musical genres which are currently dominating the best clubs. The success story of Kristian Beyer and Frank
Wiedemann aka Âme is showing no signs of waning, having led the annual charts of Groove and De:Bug magazines,
providing Pete Tong with a single of the month and even making a DJ mix for said DJ’s The Essential Selection Radio 1
show with their hit ‘Rej’, which has also been christened by Louie Vega and Danny Krivit as “the ‘Plastic Dreams’ of the
new millennium”.•They now release their first official compilation ‘Âme... Mixing’. Their DJ sets are currently being
celebrated everywhere from Miami to Paris and Helsinki, so it was only a matter of time until they immortalized one
of their mixes for home use.
3LP

BlackGrass 'Oh Jah' 12" (Catskills) e7.60

Oh Jah’ featuring Jah Marnyah is the latest single taken from the critically acclaimed album ‘A Hundred Days In One’.
This single is the stand out track from the album and has been winning many fans across the board, with support coming
from Annie Mac, Mary Anne Hobbs and Chris Coco on Radio 1, and Joe Ransom and Dan Greenpeace on Kiss 100, amongst
others. Remixes come courtesy of the Nextmen, who turn up the funk quota, and Mr Trick, who strips down the original into
a sound system destroyer.

Henrik Schwarz 'Imagination Limitation' 12" (!K7) e7.60

Written exclusively for his forthcoming DJ Kicks mix, it is an evocative piece of music that in it’s ten-odd minutes
manages to incorporate dance music’s entire history without ever sounding hackneyed or contrived. Beginning with
an emotive, almost cinematic, piano line it builds into one shimmeringly beautiful groove that takes in lush, synthetic
Detroit synths and one almighty soulful vocal executed with panache by himself. From there it glides into smooth house
terrain taking along the way the vast, expansive vistas of disco, Afro-beat, dub and funk. For the B-side Henrik has also
constructed a stunning interpretation of his original recording. An irresistible slice of fractured funk, its twisted, deviant
disco and broken beats are underpinned by some blissful harp action and an overall mood of deepness that could keep
Jacques Cousteau for company.

Movementz 'Member of the trick 03: The Locust 12" (Sonar Kolektiv) e7.60

Movementz are a new British act on Sonar Kollektiv. Trickski have personally selected ‘29 Calls’ for this release and
provide the remix on the Bside.•The third in Trickski’s ‘Members Of The Trick’ 12” series for Sonar Kollektiv.•Gilles Peterson,
Mad Mats and Carl Craig are all huge fans of Trickski.

Sygaire 'Deux Mille Deux' 12" (Sonar Kollektiv) e7.60

Sygaire is the broken beat alias of Jazzanova member Roskow Kretschmann, also known as Kosma (on Infracom),
Intega and Sygaire, amongst others. Sygaire’s goal is to produce polished club tracks with an origin in boogie, electro,
African, calypso and many other styles. The main thing is that the music should be fun.
